It encompasses grassy plains, enormous cattle stations and adventurous four-wheel drive tracks.

Tennant Creek is the Territory’s heart of gold. A true pioneer town established by explorers and adventure seekers. Visitors can try fossicking for their own gold or discover more about the town’s colourful history.

The region is home to nine Aboriginal groups, including the Warumungu, Walpiri, Kaytetye and Alyawarra people. Your clients will have a unique opportunity to learn about aboriginal life and land in the Tennant Creek region.

The town is bordered to the east by the Barkly Tablelands. The tablelands run east from Tennant Creek and are among the most important cattle grazing areas. To the south of Tennant Creek, are sweeping plains of golden grasslands and red rock formations such as the remarkable Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve and Davenport Range National Park.

Tennant Creek is famous for:

  • Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles)
  • The Davenport Ranges
  • Lake Mary Ann
  • Battery Hill Mining Centre
  • Nyinkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre
  • Gold mining heritage
